Principal’s Message: Celebrating the Class of 2020To the Class of 2020, Families and Community Members: I hope this update finds you happy, healthy and well. Over the past several weeks, the BMRHS Administrative Team, Class of 2020 officers and advisors, and various stakeholders, have carefully planned out end of year events that honor the Class of 2020. Due to the nature of public health guidelines and the uncertainty that the COVID-19 virus brings, we have developed plans that comply with federal and local health guidelines. This newsletter provides updates on all end of year events that celebrate our seniors. Although the planned events and logistics will not be exactly the same as years past, we put our best effort in making these events as memorable as possible. Many ideas were heard from the community, but we wanted to assure our seniors that we would encompass their primary requests of celebrating together as a class, on BMRHS campus, while walking across THEIR stage. We hope that our plans satisfy your wishes and honor the senior class as it should. The Class of 2020 will be cherished in our hearts forever. Throughout this time, senior members have remained positive and appreciative of the efforts made to celebrate them. We will continue to surprise them with events and gifts throughout these next few weeks. Together we will get through this, together we will celebrate, together we will remain healthy and be vigilant of one another. Sincerely, Michael Dudek Keith Ducharme Principal Assistant Principal Class of 2020 Cap & Gown Distribution - June 1st/2nd All caps, gowns and cords will be distributed to members of the Class of 2020 on June 1st (11:30am-2:00pm) and June 2nd (10:00am-12:00pm). BMRSD YouTube channel or BMRSD Facebook Class of 2020 Celebration June 5, 2020 The event will be streamed live starting at approximately 1:30pm. Click either link to view the event: BMRSD YouTube channel or BMRSD Facebook This event will take place on June 5th to keep the significance of the original graduation date, but not to necessarily replace the traditional graduation. This celebration will consist of two parts, one part will be held on campus at BMR and the other will be a parade around both towns of Blackstone and Millville. The first part of the celebration will aim to replicate a graduation ceremony as best we can with a few necessary changes. To keep everyone safe, this part of the celebration will be done in vehicles instead of walking in a large group. Each senior is allowed ONE car driven by a parent/family member in their household. (This is per order of the Blackstone/Millville Police. They will not allow student drivers during the celebration or parade.) We recommend that the graduate sits in the passenger front seat, while another family member sits in the rear passenger seat to take pictures. ONLY THE GRADUATE WILL BE ALLOWED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. There will be no riding in friends' cars or carpooling. Upon arriving at BMR, Seniors will line up in the order they would for typical graduation (valedictorian, salutatorian, class officers, alphabetically). Seniors will remain in their cars until it is their designated time to drive up, exit, grab a blank diploma cover, (this will be provided), and walk across the stage at the front of the building as is done during graduation ceremonies. Video and pictures will be taken by the schools’ videographer and photographer. An administrator will announce everyone’s name and accomplishments as they walk across the stage, similar to what is done during traditional graduation. At this time, students will move their tassels to the other side of their cap. Traditional caps and gowns will be given out about a week prior to this event as well and should be worn by seniors. However, diplomas will not be handed out at this time. This event will also be recorded for all parents, family, and community members to watch at a later date. After all students have been recognized, the second portion of this celebration will be a parade around both towns on a designated route for community members to come out and watch at a safe distance. Social distancing and masks are required. There should be NO social gatherings in public areas. Students are highly encouraged to decorate their cars and wear their caps/gowns for this parade. Again, graduates will not be allowed to drive during the parade. They must be passengers per order of Blackstone/Millville Police. All social distancing measures will be followed for the safety of all our students. Only students and family members in their vehicles will be allowed on the BMR campus-there will be no exceptions. Administration and the local police will be on-site to help direct both portions of this celebration to ensure everyone stays safe. We hope everyone can join us in this celebration to commemorate June 5th! Below are the timelines for students to arrive at BMR in order to make the process go smoother. Please adhere to your arrival time and proceed to the student parking lot. 1:00 PM Faculty Co-advisors, Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Class officers. 1:15 PM Seniors with last names starting from A-L 1:30 PM Seniors with last names starting from M-Z Class of 2020 Prom - Postponed until June 24th OR July 22ndDue to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Class of 2020 Prom has been postponed until either June 24th or July 22nd, 2020. Both dates have been reserved as we wait and see reopening guidelines to finalize any decision. Yearbooks will be delivered directly to student/family homes. BMR and its yearbook publisher, Walsworth, will keep the tradition of yearbook signing alive this year… virtually. It’s that special time when you celebrate the end of another year and remind your friends how special they are to you – that you can’t wait to see them over the summer and at school next year. COVID-19 doesn’t change that – we need to celebrate now more than ever, and we REALLY can’t wait to see our friends. That's why Walsworth partnered with Kudoboard™ to make it possible. Now you can have a virtual yearbook signing. Kudoboard lets you make online boards that your friends can sign with messages and photos, and you can stay six feet apart the whole time. Just text, email or share your link on social media with your friends. When you’re done, save your board as a hi-res JPEG you can keep digitally or print to place inside your yearbook. It’s as easy as that. We know this doesn’t replace getting your friends to sign your yearbook in person, but until that happens, the BMR Yearbook hopes you’ll sign each other's yearbooks virtually! Kailee Morris lives in Medfield. Will her yearbook still be delivered to her at her home?
